Daily Quote: floated away like a wisp

Germaine Greer 在今天的《卫报》上的纪念文章:

His sudden death is a strange kind of victory. He had managed to prevent his ageing and even his growing up. There was no beard upon his chin; his voice was a childish treble. Instead of entering middle age and letting himself be chained to earth, he has floated away like a wisp, annihilated on the brink of a 50-date concert tour that I for one was dreading.

Excuse me, why ageing instead of aging?

Right now, i am trying to translate a passage abt MJ while problems encountered as following:

He probably won’t be surrounded by children any time soon, on stage or in public. Endorsement deals are unlikely; tours plugging his most recent album, “Dangerous” (1991), are doubtless over.

I dun understand the connection btw the last sentence and the paragraph.
I even unable to figure out wat is tours plugging …. doubtless over.

    And then,

But he has stayed private, shielded by his genius as a musician and dancer. Until his coy 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey — “I’m a gentleman,” he answered when asked if he was a virgin — his public appearances allowed no dialogue.

Wat is ‘ his public appearances allowed no dialogue’? why no dialogue? He had talked to Oprah already.

The above 3 questions sincerely hope you could answer for me. Thanks a million!

    Ivy
